This article investigates the principles and possibilities of software routers and introduces results of a comparative analysis of selected routing platforms. Based on the results of a detailed analysis of software routers' behavior in several investigated parameters, the authors recommend the most suitable platform to use in teaching for solving special laboratory tasks.
