This presented article deals with the issue of VDWS and DLSM communication protocols, that are used for remote reading of intelligent electrometers for smart metering. This article analyzes the real data communication from the distribution network of CEZ, a.s., one of the biggiest elektricity distributor in EU. Based on the analyzed data the authors then introduce their recommendations and the direction of further development and utilizations of remote readings in smart metering networks.
