    This paper reviews artificial neural networks (ANN) and their use in various disciplines, especially medicine and biomedicine. As these are progressively evolving fields of knowledge, modern methods such as ANN help to process information in order to extract positive contribution to the development of human knowledge. The article illuminates this information processing in case of artificial neural neurons and presents learning algorithms for ANN. Finally, current usage is reviewed with special impact ondrug desigh and development and application in biomedicine.
