Original language description
Digital records offer a solution for reducing the amount of stored paper-based records. However, the spread of digital devices in the last decade has introduced into medicine a large amount of digital information stored simultaneously in various formatsin various locations. This study proceeds from real medical data in the Czech Republic and focuses on the Hradec Kralove area. It describes some general issues and possible solutions. Data are normally collected for each single person or population in separated data stores of practitioners and hospital information systems. These data should be linked up and shared for many purposes among specialists as well as scientists. The aim of this study is to explain how online biomedical data sources are utilized.
