Automated extraction and modeling of calcifications and blood stream volumetric parameters

  • Original language description

Paper deals with a complex analysis of the blood vessels system. Clinical examination of blood vessels is usually carried out by imaging systems. Unfortunately, clinical software tools often do not offer further image postprocessing allowing for the modeling blood vessels structures. Parameters bringing an objectification of the blood vessels state would significantly contribute to proper assessment. Firstly, we propose a system intended for the modeling and extraction of calcification spots on the base of the fuzzy thresholding method with consequent incorporating the spatial information. Blood vessel model, in result, offers a differentiation of the calcification spot from physiological blood vessel. Second part of the analysis deals with the segmentation method estimating volumetric parameters of the blood vessels. This model is intended for estimation of blood flowing in the blood vessels. This approach is intended for a verification of the blood flowing quantification before/after stent application.
