    Brandom's Incompatibility Semantics

  • Original language description

This is a critical evaluation of incompatibility semantics, as developed by Bob Brandom and Alp Aker, in the context of formal semantics. It concentrates on following three questions: following three questions: (1) Is a formal approach to semantics compatible with pragmatism and inferentialism? (2) If so, what kind of formal semantics is useful from the inferentialist perspective and of what good can it be from this perspective?; and (3) is Brandom's incompatibility semantics a suitable kind and does itbring us some new insights into the phenomena of meaning and language?
