Cape Verde - a Neglected African Democracy
Original language description
Cape Verde is one of a few truly democratic African states although it is often neglected by scientists. Since the democratic transition in 1991 there have been a democratic government and regular elections. The main goal of this article is to analyse the main events in the history of Cape Verde and the development and main characteristics of the Cape Verdean party system. Mainly it concentrates on the presidential and parliamentary elections in 2011, election campaigns of the two main political parties? the PAICV and the MpD, election campaigns and results. Then we try to find the answer to the question of the strength of the influence of states´ economical output as well as the decision-making of Cape Verdean voters.
