The Context Of The 2009 Elections And a Coup D´Etat In Honduras
Original language description
The present study deals with presidential and parliamentary election in the context of the coup d´etat in 2009. The study is divided into two parts. The first part is a description of electoral events and results in 2009. The second consists of the actual research as to whether the political system is more stable now (after the coup d´etat) than in 2005. In order to answer to this question six variables were selected and consequently measured in the years 2005 and 2009. These variables are: the centralposition of the President and his political power, the existence of two main parties in competition for the presidential office, gain of an absolute majority in the elections, simultaneous elections, party system fragmentation, and the age of the main political parties.
