This chapter deals with the development of the women's movement in the Czech lands and in Czechoslovakia from its beginning to the present. The different stages of development are culturally interpreted in a contemporary cultural and political context. The text also mentiones key personalities of the female movement (e.g. Františka Plamínková, Milada Horákoá), women's magazines and key activities of women's organizations (women's education, labor market, social rights, fight for the right to vote).
