New data on the osteology of the actinopterygian fish Amblypterus and the relationship between Amblypterus and Paramblypterus
Original language description
Relations of the actinopterygians genera Amblypterus and Paramblypterus from the Early Permian sediments of the Central and Western Europe are solved. Firstly is rendered historical summary of the opinions on the position of the Amblypterus and Paramblypterus, and the results of the own studies of the type specimen of Amblypterus lateralis and other material from the Saar Basin follow. New data on the osteology of Amblypterus latus including the new restoration of the head and the body are introduced. Acomparison of the species from the Saar Basin range currently to species Amblypterus latus and A. lateralis with the type species of Paramblypterus decorus, Paramblypterus duvernoy and Paramblypterus rohani supports an opinion of the author to close relations of the genera Amblypterus and Paramblypterus.
