War in Northern Ghana. Chiefdom of Nanun, Chiefless Konkomba, and the Modern State
Original language description
The chapter analyzes the interplay between three kinds of polities: chiefdom, non-centralized tribe and the state as they acted during the war conflict in Northern Ghana in 1981. It shows that the modern civilian regime was unable to prevent local war. Also the chiefdom was unprepared for the attack by the tribesmen. The conflict was suppressed by the new military regime.
