Original language description
"One of the striking common denominators is the fact that “anthropology” in these countries is commonly known as physical or biological anthropology. Social–cultural, or sociocultural, anthropology is a novelty in Central, Southeastern, and Eastern Europe, having broadly entered this region since 1990. A second striking common denominator is the strong influence of the German intellectual tradition, which has lasted to the present in spite of the penetration of Anglo-Saxon approaches. A third common denominator is the impact in these countries of nationalism, which has given birth to ethnographic traditions that sometimes are called “ethnology.” A fourth and final common denominator is of course communist rule"
