Baroque religious pilgrimages and decorations of printed pilgrimage guides from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries stored in the Benedictine library in Broumov
Original language description
In the 17th and 18th centuries Bohemian printing offices published pilgrimage guides. The prints were related to the important Marian pilgrimage sites, which were visited by crowds of believers in the Baroque period. A depiction of a statue or an image of St. Mary in the illustrations supported the fame of of a sacred place, strengthened the faith and provided higher financial profits to the printing offices in the book market.
