Original language description
This paper deals with students’ individual research projects in the context of secondary science education. In this project approach, a school science competition in three categories according to the age of students is launched every year. Students have to process a research project on a topic of their interest and choice every two years during their study at school. The aim is to develop profound cognition in some fi eld of their interest, self-study competencies, critical thinking and to gain independence in the processing a research project. In the paper is discussed this school science competition as a framework to promote the motivation of students to realise a research and the ability to work independently under the leadership of consultant from the school or university.
