Epeolus ladakhensis sp. nov. – a new species of cuckoo bee from India

  • Original language description

I describe Epeolus ladakhensis sp. nov., a new species of cuckoo bee from the Indian province of Kashmir. This species is closely related to Epeolus tarsalis Morawitz, 1874, and differs by the more whitish and yellowish pubescent parts of the body, the sculpture on the mesoscutum and sterna, and the shape of the apical margin of the clypeus. Only two females from one locality are known. The species was discovered and described by German mellitologist Klaus Warncke but the description remained unpublished. Thanks to the rediscovery of the original types and unpublished description the species is herein imaged and formally described.
