Nerve agents surrogates: synthetic approaches and uses thereof for analytical and toxicological purposes
Original language description
Neurotoxins are natural or synthetic compounds that lead to the incapacitation and, ultimately, death by halting relevant biological mechanisms (Dong et al., 2019; Eckert, 1981;Nepovimova & Kuca, 2018a; Rossetto et al., 2014). The use of such compounds in warfare isforbidden by the chemical weapons convention (CWC), which came into force in 1997, pavingthe way for the formal establishment of the Organisation for the Prohibition of ChemicalWeapons (OPCW), the international watchdog that oversees the enforcement of CWC provisions(CWC - Chemical Weapons Convention, 1997).
