The Czech Republic has a long tradition, especially in rural areas. At the time of the Habsburg Empire, the Czech cultural and economic identity was based on voluntary activities of civil society. It was created by active activities of small and medium-sized enterprises, production and consumer cooperatives, associations, mutual or general unions and cooperative credit unions. At the time of the Great Depression during the 20th and 30th years of the 20th century, the role of these cooperatives and companies even further. The tradition of social economy was interrupted by totalitarian development during the war and after 1948. After 1989, was an attempt to restore in our autonomous cooperative sector, but after 2000 can record the onset of the topic of social economy, as we see him with us today. Social business is booming all over the world and every country it adapts to its historical roots, its tradition, mentality and culture.
