THE ADOPTION OF THE EURO IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
Original language description
The Czech Republic when joined the European Union agreed to adopt a common currency, the euro, and to take steps that will lead to integration into the European Monetary Union (EMU). The introduction of the euro will affect all inhabitants of the Czech Republic. To facilitate a better understanding of the transition of the Czech economy to the euro, a National Plan for the Introduction of the euro in the Czech Republic was worked out, which addresses the technical, organizational and legal requirements of this transition. The National Plan determines that the changeover must respect several important principles, namely legal certainty and consumer protection and minimize the costs associated with the introduction of the euro.
