Original language description

The paper aims to deployment of directory services, especially LDAP, in area of large distributed computing enviroment system management. First part of this paper gives brief introduction to problem area and about ideas and goals represented by the described project dealing with such area. Next part is focused on a particular issue (publication of workstation configuration information). It goes from currently used technology (Hesiod) and describes newly designed solution based on directory services. This part is complemented by description of testing environment (pilot project) which is realized as part of the West Bohemia University distributed computing environment.
