Confusa: A Software System for Certificate Generation via the TERENA Portal

Original language description

Confusa is a PHP/MySQL portal software whose aim is to simplify certificate obtaining by leveraging existing infrastructure. Identity vetting in Confusa is done by using national identity federations. Those identity federations provide Confusa with federated identities, a set of attributes that serve to identify an user. Transmission of the federated identity from an identity provider to Confusa is done using the SAML2 WebSSO profile, which effectively reduces the user's task to signing in with their home institution in their browser. Based on the user's federated identity, Confusa can issue a certificate according to the MICS profile, with close to zero delay.
