User friendly querying of weakly structured data
Original language description
The paper describes a working prototype of a user-friendly query language for collections of weakly structured data,as found in noSQL databases, where a strong structure and/or verbosity of SQL or UnQL gets unfeasible, inappropriate or simply inconvenient.Primarily it arose from the need for a language to perform queries on vast amounts of data, extracted from analysed audit trail (log) files from common network servers. Its generality, however, promises wider potential. The syntax allows for simple one-shot queries, while not sacrificing the possibility of complex data examination, such as joins and nesting. A simple but expressive language allows for a quick correlation and analysis of log data in order to identify any issues, specifics or security suspicions which would otherwise go unspotted.
