Interactive 3D models: Documenting and presenting restoration and use of heritage objects
Original language description
3D digital models of collection items are increasingly used in addition to still photographs in collection management systems for documentation and presentation purposes. Our objective was to enhance 3D digitization and presentation beyond appearance, such that we can document the restoration process, capture the original use of a collection item, or support other interaction applications. The presentation should allow virtual manipulation of the artifacts and bring them into their historical and cultural context using rich annotations. We demonstrate the used workflow and the created presentation software in two use cases: the restoration of the Madonna of the Old Town Hall in Prague and capturing the original use of selected items in the collection of the Prague City Museum.
