Mapping of atmospheric deposition of sulphur and nitrogen in relation to critical loads of acidity and nitrogen in the Czech Republic
Original language description
Estimates of dry and wet deposition of sulphur and nitrogen has been compared with critical loads of sulphur and nitrogen in the Czech Republic on 1 x 1 km grid. Deposition has been estimated from monitored and modelled concentrations in the atmosphere Wet deposition was derived from concentration values for SO42-, NO3- and NH4+ in precipitations and from precipitation amounts. Dry deposition was derived from concentrations of gaseous components and aerosol in the air, and from their deposition velocitAmultiple resistance model was used for calculation of SO2, NOx, NH3 deposition velocities, deposition velocities of particles were parameterized. The simple mass balance model was used for calculating critical loads of suplhur and nitrogen. Reduction ofcurrent total deposition of nitrogen (NOy + NHx) about 60 % would protect 55 % sensitive forest. Reduction of currently total sulphur and nitrogen (total potential acid) deposition by about 60 % would protect 98 % sensitive forest.
