The aim of the questionnaire study was evaluation of different self ? approach to health in industrial city population. A structured questionnaire was distributed to a random sample of some 3,000 aged 25-70 and collected by postal delivery. In total 634completed questionnaires were analysed. Ill respondents in the sample were significantly more discontent, more often in a lack of psychical well-being and more passive comparing with the group of healthy respondents. Contrary to prediction the behaviourof ill individuals was less risky comparing with healthy people. Sub-groups of population (women, more educated and economically active) with an active approach to health preventive measures had significantly better self-reported health.
