Microstructure and properties of modified 3%Cr steels 3%Cr STEELS
Original language description
Precipitation strengthening in steels investigated is predominantly affected by vanadium carbide. It is not practical to increase the Mo and /or W content in solid solution. Higher Mo and/or W content leads to formation of Mo and/or W rich M6C carbide and dissolution of MX particles decreasing precipitation strengthening. Therefore increase overall Mo and/or W content in the steel over this limit does not offer any advantage. It has been shown that increasing V content up to stoichiometric ratio may improve creep resistance due to higher precipitation strengthening.
