Original language description
Throughout the history of the Czech lands, people?s motivation for living in different environments for shorter or longer periods has changed. The region of the present Czech Republic has experienced many cultural, socio-political and economic waves, influencing and creating a particular form of amenity migration. The small geographical scale of the country also plays a significant role in the relationship of second-home and more-permanent amenity migration. The use of second homes for various periods of time throughout a year is usually possible, while on the other hand permanent amenity migration has not been common. Apart from short distances and ease of access by standard transport, the Czech people hesitate when it comes to permanently moving to another place, due principally to their deep sense of place rootedness.
