A rapid and simple magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) was used to preconcentrate alkylphenols (APs) and nonylphenol mono- and di-ethoxylates (NP lEO and NP2EO) from water samples before capillary gas chromatographic (CGC) determination. AP, NP1EO andNP2EO are biodegradation products ethoxylated nonylphenols (NPnEO) surfactants. MSPE was tested for extraction of these pollutants from water. This method was compared with liquid - liquid extraction (LLE). Different types of sorbents and column packingsuch as ChezacarbB, S, Tenax GC, TA, GR, Porapak S and Chromosorb 101-106 were magnetically modified and used for the preconcentration and isolation of the target compounds. The four extraction parameters were optimized. Water samples from the reservoirRozkos, river Labe and from water phase after biodegradation tests of oxyethylenated nonylphenols were analysed. Detection limits of the method were between 0.65-1 pg 1-1.
