This chapter present definitions of fundamental terms and briefly summarizes the highlights of the main issues in environmentally induced human migration,including presentation of a new typology of environmental migrants. The Chapter cannot present solutions to the problem of environmental migrants//refugees because those still require long-term team research of scientists and experts from diverse fields. A mix of theoretical considerations with illustrative case studies has been chosen to provide the cleares possible way of explaining the selected aspects of environmentally induced migratio processes. Five themes are addressed in the chapter, ant the autor endeavors to include the most important current thinking relating to each issue.
