Determination of the earthquake hypocenter represents a basic problem routinely solved in seismology. The problem belongs to the class of simpler problems in geophysics, but it is still difficult to solve. The dimension of the model space is low, but theforward problem exhibits a case-to-case-dependent degree of nonlinearity.

Lokalizace hypocentra seismických jevů představuje základní rutinní úlohu řešenou v seismologii. Tento problém patří do kategorie jednodušších, nicméně stále představuje poměrně složitou úlohu. Dimenze modelového prostoru je sice nízká, ale míra nelinearity je značně proměnlivá v závislosti na konkrétní řešené úloze.
