Original language description
In this paper we present results of tiltmeter monitoringnof hazardous slopes of an open-pit mine. The case history is fromnthe Czech Republic. The two tiltmeter stations were establishedninside a horizontal gallery drilled through the slope. The regularntrend of tilting is disturbed by sudden deviations in winter.nDuring these periods some landslides occurred right at thenbeginning of the deviations or even during them. Therefore wenassume the tilt measurements may serve as precursory technique,nespecially if supported by independent method like automatedngeodetic scanning. As the principal cause of sliding we considerndisplacements and accumulation of groundwater.
