Improved proj.4 grid files for region of Czech Republic
Original language description
This paper shows results of effort to improve outcome of former work when the initial correction grids were computed to enable transformation between ETRF2000 and Czech S-JTSK/Bpv coordinate system with PROJ.4 software. The PROJ.4 cartographic projection library is well know for its ability to compute projected coordinates in many national systems. With its cs2cs utility it also allows to transform coordinates between these systems and finally it also supports correction of ellipsoid heights for geoid undulation. All of this is done with WGS84 system as the reference system where is considered as identical with ETRF2000.The library supports two types of datum definition against reference WGS84 system. Seven parameters similarity transformation of geocentric XYZ coordinates or direct transformation of geodetic coordinates using grid files to compute their corrections. The transformation from ellipsoidal height to orthometric height or any other is carried out as a separate step using vertical grid files. The initial grids have horizontal precision better than 10cm and vertical precision better than 7cm contemporary to reference data published by Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre. These results are far more better than results obtained from similarity transformation nevertheless they show some systematic errors and several local extremes. Because of this new correction grids were computed in several slightly different ways, different node distances, different interpolation methods to reduce systematic errors and local extremes. The new correction grids bring about ten times better results mainly because of systematic errors reduction. The local extremes were not possible further suppress unless the grid node distance would increase to impractical level, change of grid formats from CTABLE and GTX format or other changes in PROJ.4 code.
