Muf is a tool for knowledge base (KB) building by extracting knowledge from texts. It is intended for cases when all documents have to be processed manually in order to ensure correctness of KB. Muf provides visual tools and some degree of mechanizationto facilitate manual knowledge extraction and KB building. Muf is specifically intended for cases where the use case is well defined in advance. Thanks to that we can determine the simplest KB that will work. Simple and clearly defined structure of the KB makes it possible to decide which piece of knowledge is worth of extraction and which not. This makes extraction and KB building tasks easier. If it turns out at some point in the future that the structure of the KB is too simplistic or incorrect, Mufis able to trace the corresponding knowledge down to the text and allow user to re-extract the knowledge. The work was done on Czech drug labels, but Muf can be also used for different languages and different kinds of documents as well.

Muf je nástroj na tvorbu znalostních bazí (ZB) pomocí extrakce znalostí z textů. Nástroj je zaměřen na případy, kde je nutné zpracovávat všechny dokumenty ručně, aby byla zachována správnost ZB. Muf poskytuje vizuální nástroje a určitý stupeň mechanizacepro usnadnění manuální extrakce znalostí a výstavbu ZB. Muf je zvlášť vhodný pro situace kdy jsou známé případy použití systému v předstihu. Díky tomu je možné určit nejjednodušší použitelnou ZB. Jednoduchá a dobře definovaná struktura ZB umožňuje rozhodnout, která znalost je hodna extrakce a která ne. Toto taky usnadňuje získávání znalostí a budování ZB. Když se ukáže někdy v budoucnu, že je struktura ZB příliš jednoduchá nebo chybná, Muf dokáže zavést uživatele zpátky ke zdroji znalosti v textu a umožní mu její opětovnou extrakci. Práce byla provedena na českých příbalových letácích léků, ale Muf je navržen tak, aby mohl být použit i pro jiné jazyky a různé druhy textů.
