The solution of the radiative transfer equation in axial symmetry
Original language description
We present a new method for the solution of the radiative transfer equation in axial symmetry. The three dimensional problem is reduced to a two dimensional one using a set of independent planes. Our extended short characteristics method is applied to the radiative transfer problem in each of the planes using polar coordinates. The method is able to handle a velocity field, which is accounted for using the Doppler shift between neighboring cells.
