Original language description
The interstellar extinction of stars is often derived from the observed color index. However, this method works properly only, as long as the stellar winds are weak enough to not influence the individual colors of the star. We investigate the influence of stellar winds to the observable colors of early B-type supergiants. We show that the interstellar extinction and therefore also the stellar luminosities are overestimated, if the observed colors are not properly corrected for the wind contribution.
