Evolution of Physical Characteristics of Umbral Dots and Penumbral Grains
Original language description
The evolution of central and peripheral umbral dots (CUDs and PUDs) and penumbral grains (PGs) was traced in a time series of maps of temperature, Doppler velocities, and magnetic field vector in a sunspot. It was found that PGs and PUDs are of a similarphysical nature. They appear in regions with a weaker and more horizontal magnetic field and reach the photosphere, while CUDs are formed in deeper layers.
