Original language description
A DNA fragment (2630 bp) carrying the LEU2 gene (1086 bp) of osmotolerant yeast Zygosaccharomyces rouxii was isolated and characterised. Encoded beta-isopropylmalate dehydrogenase shares a high degree of similarity with other yeast homologues. The Z. rouxii LEU2 gene fully complements the leu2 mutation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
