Histochemical demonstration of the heterogeneity of the epithelium of proximal tubules in the chick mesonephros.
Original language description
Chick mesonephric kidneys were examined histochemically to evaluate their structural and functional properties related to the disruption of absorption capacity of the proximal-tubular epithelium leading to cystical dilation of tubules. It is hypothetizedthat epithelial cells in some proximal tubules of nephrons posses a defective apical cell membrane causing reduced fluid absorption and subsequent overfilling and dilation of the tubules.
