The offspring of hypertensive parents displayed higher insulin resistance, enhanced activity of Na-Li countertransport and augmented Li and Rb leaks. Acute hyperglycemia did not modify any ion transport parameter in erythrocytes of either offspring of hypertensive parents or controls.
