Membrane ion transport in erythrocytes of salt hypertensive Dahl rats and their F2 hybrids: the importance of cholesterol.
Original language description
Ion transport study in erythrocytes of F2 hybrids (derived from salt-sensitive and salt-resistant Dahl rats) revealed close relationships between blood pressure, serum cholesterol and ion transport mediated by the Na,K-pump. Abnormal lipid metabolism andrelated alterations of Na,K-ATPase function play an important role in the pathogenesis of salt hypertension in Dahl rats.
