Adhesion and growth of rat aortic smooth muscle cells on lactide-based polymers.
Original language description
Adhesion and growth of rat vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) on poly(L-lactic acid), PLLA, poly(DL-lactic acid), PDLLA, and a block copolymer of PLLA with a carboxylated poly(ethylene oxide) segment, PLLA-b-PEO-COOH, were studied in vitro. Both polylatides supported well the colonization with VSMC, whereas the PEO-containing copolymer markedly attenuated it. The latter material could be used for construction of inert cell non-adhesive background for attachment of synthetic bioactive molecules in orderto control cell behaviour.
