Polymer vesicles in vivo: correlations with PEG molecular weight.

  • Original language description

Nanovesicles made from PEG-based block copolymers were injected into rats and found to have circulation times about two-fold longer than PEGylated, or Stealth, liposomes. After opsonization with plasma proteins, they were cleared by macrophages and uptaken by various organs, mainly liver and spleen. They did not exert toxic effects on endothelial and smooth muscle cells in culture. They could be used as carriers for controlled drug delivery.
