Influence of thyroid status on the differentiation of slow and fast muscle phenotypes

  • Original language description

We have been studying the effect of altered thyroid hormone levels on the expression of myosin heavy chain (MyHC) isoforms in control and regenerating soleus and extensor digitorum longus muscles of euthyroid, hypothyroid or hyperthryoid female inbred Lewis rats. Our results indicate that although the innervation plays a decisive role in the determination of muscle phenotype, levels of thyroid hormones contribute to the extent of muscle phenotype transformation

Vliv tyroidního stavu na diferenciaci pomalého a rychlého fenotypu svalu

  • Czech description

Studovali jsme vliv změněných hladin tyroidních hormonů na expresi izoforem těžkých řetězců myosinu (MyHC) v kontrolních a regenerovaných svalech m. soleus a m. extensor digitorum longus eutyroidních, hypotyroidních a hypertyroidních samic potkanů inbredního kmene Lewis. Naše výsledky ukazují, že ačkoliv má inervace hlavní roli v determinaci fenotypu svalu, úroveň hladiny tyroidních hormonů přispívá k rozsahu transformace fenotypu
