We found that telmisartan, a structurally unique angiotensin II receptor antagonist used for the treatment of hypertension, can function as a partial agonist of the peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPARgamma), influence the expression ofPPARgamma target genes involved in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, and reduce glucose, insulin, and triglyceride levels in rats fed a high fat, high carbohydrate diet

Czech description

Odhalili jsme, že telmisartan, antagonista angiotensin II receptoru s ojedinělou strukturou, používaný k léčbě hypertenze, působí jako částečný agonista Pparg a ovlivňuje tak expresi cílových genů Pparg, regulujících metabolizmus uhlovodíků a tuků. U potkanů krmených dietou s vysokým obsahem tuků a uhlovodíků tak telmisartan snižuje hladiny glukózy, insulinu a triglyceridů
