Bylo studováno bílkovinné složení nerozpustné matrice skořápky ptačích vajec. Rozdělení bílkovin závisí na typu vrstvy (umístění ve skořápce): ovocalyxin-32 byl nalezen hlavně ve vnější vrtsvě (kutikula); ovocleidin-116 a 17 a ovocalyxin-36 byly nalezenyv celé vaječné skořápce, zatímco ovalbumin byl nalezen pouze ve vnitřní vrstvě, mamiláře
