Mitochondrial K-ATP opening confers protection against lethal myocardial injury and ischaemia-induced arrhythmias in the rat heart via PI3K/Akt-dependent and -independent mechanisms
Original language description
In isolated perfused rat hearts, bracketing of diazoxide (K-ATP opener) with wortmannin (PI3K inhibitor) blunted its infarct size-limiting effect but not the protection against ischemic arrhythmias. It appears, that PI3K/Akt pathway play a positive roleof the K-ATP opener against lethal myocardial injury, but it is not involved in suppression of ischemia-induced arrhythmias
