Maladaptive Myocardial Responses to Hypertension are Attenuated by Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Red Palm Oil Intake
Original language description
Using immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, western blotting and real time PCR, we have found that abnormal distribution and down-regulation of Cx43 accompanied with altered PKC? signaling in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) were linked with increased propensity to ventricular fibrillation (VF) comparing to age-matched normotensive rats. On the other hand, attenuation of hypertension-related myocardial Cx43 abnormalities by treatment with omega-3 fatty acids or red palm oil confers protectionfrom malignant arrhythmias in SHR
