Fossils records of plants and lower vertebrates have been treated with special reference to palaeoenvironmental properties. Several newly established taxa are included - Plantae: Biliniasporites multilamellatus Konzalová, gen. et sp. nov., Nyssa bilinica(Unger) Z. Kvaček, comb. nov., Nyssa bilinica forma haidingeri Z. Kvaček, f. nov., Pseudotsuga buzekii Z. Kvaček, gen. et sp. nov. Smilacinites ungeri Z. Kvaček, gen. et sp. nov. and Pisces - Umbra longidorsalis Böhme, sp. nov. Various stages of ecosystem development within the Early Miocene Most Formation, the coal-bearing fill of the Most Basin, are reviewed on the basis of recent sedimentological and palaeontological studies.

Fosilní záznamy rostlin a nižších obratlovců byly sledovány se zvláštním zřetelem k paleoprostředí. Je začleněno i několik nově stanovených taxonů ? Je podán přehled různých stupňůvývoje ekosystému spodně miocénního Mosteckého souvrství, uhlonosné výplně Mostecké pánve, na základě současných sedimentologických a paleontologických studií.
