StratDb: a database of stratigraphic units
Original language description
A database of stratigraphic (both international and local) units plus some biostratigraphic units is presented. It is based on ICS chart 2004, ages are coded in relative units, absolute ages are upgraded periodically. At present, it includes some 3000 names, both valid, and synonymous. Scripts for querying the database are also provided. The database is intended for local installation. User will need 'rc', join', 'sort' and 'awk' installed, and is advised to run the pre-boiled scripts, or write her/hisown queries in 'awk' language. No support of SQL, as well of Web interface, is intentional. A Telnet (putty) interface to the installed current version, hosted and running under Linux, is at telnet://babi.cz
