    The background geomorphology of Abusir lako and other depressions under the steep slopes of the Abusir and Saqqara area were very probably formed by and older, now abandoned early-Middle Holocene river course. The change of sedimentaytion from a fluvialto an aeolian one happened some 10 cm above the horizon dated to the interval between the Third to Fift Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, which means after approx. 2460 BC.
