Original language description
Experimental results on homogeneous nucleation rates of n-propanol from its supersaturated vapor are presented. The experiments have been carried out in a static diffusion chamber at the isotherm 280 K. The rates have been determined by photographing droplets trajectories using a CCD camera and evaluating the digital pictures by image analysis. To suppress nucleation on ions, influence of the electric field on the resulting rates has been determined and all the subsequent experiments have been carried out at E=30 Vdc/cm. Another parametric study has also been performed to minimize the 2-d effects connected to the heating of chamber wall. Experiments on the isotherm have been done close to the condensation point (on the wall). Slope of the isotherm 280K is quite similar to that predicted by the classical theory of homogeneous nucleation. Theoretical prediction is about one or two orders of magnitude higher than the experimental data, which is not unusual in the nucleation experiments.
